☼ The Field - Yesterday And Today [Japanese Edition]

The Field is Axel Willner, and 2007's "Here We Go Sublime" was one of the year's most acclaimed releases, receiving a 9.0 from Pitchfork as well as universal praise. (although some were not won over by it much) It was a soundtrack to the spit-shined airport of your dreams - faceless, futuristic, and fuzzy. Now, Willner expands his palette, continuing the oblique sampling strategy while building up the rhythmic architecture, tearing down most (but not all) annoying locked loops of the debut, and offering a much richer production. Here's hoping he continues to grow even further with future releases... this is the beginning!
